Overview: The English Language Learner (ELL) Program provides technical assistance, professional development, EL authorization classes and resources to district teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals and parents to support the academic achievement of English learners. All of our professional development offerings and county initiatives are research-based and aligned to standards.

Title III Year 4 Technical Assistance
The Coordinator of English Language Learners supports districts in the development and implementation of Title III Action plan for English Learner achievement. Audience: District Teams assigned to work on the Title III Action Plan.
Professional Development Programs
Bilingual Teacher Training Program (BTTP)/CTEL
Monterey County Office of Education heads the BTTP center for the tri-county area encompassing Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties. We offer Classes and information for teachers seeking to obtain English Learner authorization for either the CLAD or BCLAD. Visit OMS
CELDT Training
California English Language Development Test (CELDT Information and Resources: The CELDT test is administered to all English Learners throughout California on an annual basis. Monterey County provides training of trainer opportunities as well as technical assistance and support for ensuring the effective and accurate administration and scoring of the CELDT.
